š¾ **Meet Emmitt: Our Gentle Soul** š¾
Today, we want to shine a spotlight on Emmitt, a beloved member of our foster family for the past few months as he undergoes heartworm treatments. At 8 years young, Emmitt is the epitome of sweetness and charm. Despite some limited eyesight, he moves around with grace and joyāthough we wish we could get him some doggy glasses!
Emmitt will soon be ready to find his forever home. He's ideal for anyone seeking a companion for a relaxed lifestyle or eligible for our SOS program. Don't be fooled by his calm demeanor; Emmitt loves life! Whether he's lounging on the couch, head in your lap for Netflix marathons, or strolling through the neighborhood, he does it all with an adoring gaze that melts hearts.
Could Emmitt be the perfect match for you? Visit www.dudobes.org to learn more about adopting him or other dogs in need. Let's find Emmitt the loving home he truly deserves! š¾š

Itās #TrainingTuesday and Oliver's story continues.
When we last left off, Oliver finished his group training sessions and they didnāt want us back. Back to square one full of all the emotions, sadness and frustration with a sprinkle of hopelessness for good measure. Where do we go from here, what do we do now?
At this point for us, life got in the way. It was late fall, the holidays fast approaching, the weather turned cold, our son and his family were buying a house and preparing to move out. We were simply too busy trying to keep up with day-to-day life to think about training.
PSAā¦Doberman puppies are not for everyone, and they require a LOT of work. Not just for the puppy stage, but ALL the stages of growing up. Oliver had been completely potty trained at 4 months old by keeping a strict routine. We celebrated when his shark teeth were finally gone at 6 months and that win was short lived as his BIG, mischievous personality was emerging. Our puppy was a year old now and fast becoming a teenager, testing us every step of the way. We vowed to outsmart him, but thatās not so easy to do! Iām sure many of you can relate!
Oliver loved to swallow socks, so we restricted access to the basement and kidsā bedrooms. He started stealing sponges out of the sink the very second you turned your back, so we bought a dish wand with a long handle. We watched him like a hawk and still he stole things. In a split second, he could grab something and gulp it down as fast as it entered his mouth! Thank goodness for peroxide! On the plus side we were as clutter free as possible!
Remember this quote. āWhat you accept becomes acceptable!ā Words to live by. If you donāt like the behavior, you had better fix it or you will be āaccepting itā for the next 10-12 years!
Through all the busy chaos, we still worked on basic commands indoors. Sit, down, wait, crate, leave it. Cultivating good house manners. And then, in the blink of an eye, spring arrived, the kids moved out, the weather was warming, and it was time to get on with our training journey.
Want to know what we did next? Follow our journey and stay tuned for the next episode of #TrainingTuesday!
